FAQs

What should I bring/wear/expect for my first session?

You are welcome to bring your own towel or water, other than that just yourself, its that simple, no showering after or fussing beforehand.  You will be made to feel safe & comfortable on your arrival, you will be offered privacy to enjoy your experience and given some time after your session to rest.  We recommend wearing swimsuit or underwear along with a towel if you wish. More skin exposure is certainly preferable as it allows better flow of the infrared through. We recommend bringing clothing that is loose fitting and comfortable to put back on after your session.

How often should I visit? How to get best results.

It is really personal preference, each session will be beneficial regardless how often you visit, that being said for a particular aliment or recovery it is recommended twice weekly. Expose as much skin as possible, therefore bathing suit or shorts are suitable to wear, some people chose to wrap themselves in a towel, whatever works for you, works for us.  Hydrate before during and after you session. It is important to replace electrolytes after your sauna session.

Is it safe?

Yes, infrared sauna is perfectly safe for most people. They use a natural form of energy called infrared light, the same light that warms us from the sun.  If you have any doubts or have an underlying condition you should consult a doctor before.  However, as with any therapy, you should consult a doctor if you have any underlying health conditions or concerns before beginning any therapy.

When to use the Sauna?

Some users find the session will relax them, preparing them for a good nights sleep and they enjoy the sauna in the evening.  Others are invigorated by the session and like to enjoy the renewed energy throughout the day.  It is completely personal preference.

BEFORE YOUR SESSION

Hydrate. Most people do not drink enough water to begin with and now that you are using an infrared sauna and sweating, it is even more important to stay properly hydrated.

Always drink plenty of water before, during and after your sauna session. Avoid drinking coffee, soft drinks, juice overloaded with sugar or alcohol. Remove all make up to allow your skin to receive and experience full benefits.

DURING YOUR SESSION

You may not sweat much during your first few sauna sessions. This is normal for many people, if the body is not used to sweating, it can take a while for the body to "retrain" what to do naturally. Take care not to overheat during your first few sessions. As the body continues to adjust, sweating can increase dramatically and body temperature regulation becomes more effective. If the sauna becomes too hot, you may open the door to let some air in. Drink water as needed. Stretching your arms, legs and back area during your session creates more body flexibility. It can be good to massage congested muscle areas to help alleviate pain.

AFTER YOUR SESSION

Hydrate again.  Make sure you drink plenty of water after your session to replenish what has been lost during your session.

Infrared saunas offers a range of  benefits; however, much as before starting any therapy or treatment, if you are unsure, you should consult with your physician/GP before booking a session. Do not use if you are pregnant, have serious inflammation, serious cardiovascular conditions, a fever, a communicable disease, hemophilia or implants, do not use if you have a Pacemakers / Defibrillators.  Do not use under the influence of drugs or alcohol or dehydrated. You should consult with your physician regarding certain medical conditions/medications.  Do not use when unwell.  Avoid if  you have medical sensitivity to heat, or light or a condition that affects your body’s ability to perspire.  Disclaimer: We are happy to explain the benefits of each treatment, however we are not medical professionals therefore cannot give medical advice or information.

Are there showers?

No. We do not recommend showering immediately after sessions as toxins will still continue to leave your body, your body continues to sweat for approximately 30/45 minutes after your session ends. Therefore we recommend showering after your body has fully cooled down.  Later on once fully cooled, ensure you continue to hydrate, it is great to take a warm shower to wash off the toxins that are now on the outside of your skin. Many find that a cool shower after a warm shower invigorates them and the skin.  So enjoy a good shower followed by a cool rinse.  This will also close up the pores.
